Sports Bet Fields |
|
Short fields of horses are more common in jump than in flat sports bet races. But here we are talking about the number of horses who finish the race without falling or unseating their riders, as well as the obvious number of original starters in a race. Failure to note these important sports betting numbers when handicapping jumpers can result in false impressions of a horse’s ability.
Example: Jack the Jumper
The past performance line for Jack the Jumper’s last race makes him look like an improved sports horse compared to, say, six previous races where he was never closer than tenth. However, a look at the final far-right figure in the past performance line (“3,” indicating number of bet horses that started the race) tells you that Jack the Jumper finished last in a field of three horses. Extrapolating this theory, a case for the debunking of Fence Soarer’s merits could be made by citing the fact that his horse finished next to last. |

Horse Racing Sports Bet
Harness Horse Racing
There is an obvious difference that quickly meets the eye in this kind of a race and that’s the jockey sitting in a sports bet cart called a sulky, behind the horse. The next difference is that the trotting horse, otherwise known as a Standardbred, is not permitted to run or gallop. If it goes out of control and does not settle back down to a trot, it is disqualified from the race. The skill of the driver is an obvious consideration for the sports bet to make. And also very significant is the post position. The inside rail, because it creates the shortest distance to run, is usually considered to be the cream of the crop. Weight does not carry the impact that it does in thoroughbred racing because the jockey does not sit on top of the horse. Distance is almost always one mile in harness racing. The factor to look at here is not so much how far the horse goes, but how well it does on the turn, which will make or break the standardbred.
Class changes are so frequent with the trotter that this does not carry as much sports bet weight to the handicapper as do other facts.Male or female? Does it matter? Again, not much, because weight allowances are not made for the female trotters. Male and female are given equal status when it comes to betting on a harness race. Betting goes on in the same manner as with the greyhound racing and thoroughbreds with equal availability of betting the Daily Double, Exacta, and pick Six.
Quarter Horses Bet
If you want to go to the fastest race in the world, go see the Quarter horses running. For some, this is very exciting and for others, the action is simply too quick. The stakes in this kind of a race have been known to go as high as a million betting dollars, and for almost anyone who gambles for sports gambling, that’s exciting.
Thoroughbred Racing Sports
Thoroughbred racing is definitely the “sport of kings”. It is a known fact that a thoroughbred horse is sired only by the top of the line, under very strict regulations, and at a very high premium to the investor. Needless to say, unlike the harness races, the jockey rides on the horse, not behind it. So, there ae some obvious factors to look at when handicapping this type of race, that will differ from harness races.
If you’ve done your homework before coming to the track, you’ve probably studied the Daily sports betting Form, which is a paper that comes out the night before the sports bet races and gives detailed past performances for each horse. This conclusion is partially derived by carefully analyzing many facts about the horses, some of which are age, sex, speed, weight, fast starts, late finishes, past earnings, races won (or lost), track conditions, etc., etc. ad infinitum.
